Dead Space

Resident Evil in Space? I'll let you decide that one.

The game takes place inside of a spaceship named USG Ishimura. This bitch is huge, and exploration is broken down into chapters. You play as Issac Clark. The bitch of the space crew. I've never been ordered to do so much shit for other people. If there was a broom and a dustpan your crew would probably have you sweep the floor.

Don't get it twisted though. Issac is the man.

The action in this game is really cool. The guns are unique, and they play a big role in how you approach the game. The strategy is to shoot off the limbs of the alien creatures that invaded the ship. The enemies are diverse enough that certain guns work better than others. It's not a surprise to find yourself changing guns multiple times when whoopin some alien ass.

The graphics are pretty, and the sounds are great. They work well at giving the player the feeling that shit is really fucked up on this spaceship. It's also really cool when you see limbs fall off enemies as you shoot em.

My only problem with this game is that it takes a while for it to get in motion. The game holds your hand for the first couple of hours, but once it lets go... You might find yourself up all night trying to get as much darkness in while you play. (Game is so much better at night)

If you haven't played Dead Space give it a try. EA hooked it up this time

LittleBigPlanet

That right there is my character from one of the hottest games out right now LittleBigPlanet. This game is honestly the reason to buy a Playstation 3. There's no way to describe it. You just have to play it.

LittleBigPlanet turns non gamers into gamers.
I played this game with Beezy who had never played a videogame in his life. He's the one on the right in the picture above. We beat the game together. He's the one pictured on the right. This was taken after we reached his goal of finding the fur hat.
It's the easiest game to pick up and play, and probably the most original game to come out this year. It's so much fun playing levels that were created by other people. There are some really cool ones out there (Anit-Color, The Great Race, Distress in Ocean, etc.)

Here's a few pics from some levels made by players

Guess I'll comment here..

I read this blog post on 8bitreview.com and wanted to comment on it, but the site wouldn't let me sign in, so I'll post the comment here

I agree that 360 lacks originality (even though it came out first lol), but it definitely has a demographic. Online gamers.

I'd much rather play GTA IV, Call of Duty, etc on XBox Live over the Playstation Network any day of the week.

The exclusives Halo and Gears of War are all about being played online.

The lag I get on LittleBigPlanet is sad but it's free so I dont complain.

No More Heroes

Become the world's #1 assassin and you might be able to bang her. If that's not the reason to play this game right now then I got another one.

Travis Touchdown

- The cutest character from tomorrow.

- The coolest character from tomorrow.

- The true star of the Nintendo Wii.

Still Not Convinced?

Genki Rockets - Heavenly Star

If it wasnt for No More Heroes I woulda never heard this song. It brings back memories of spending hours at Area 51 buying the latest tight jeans.

"Don't Steal Music" like my new iPod says.

Just play the game.. Trust me you'll hear it...

I've already said too much. Your welcome :-)

No More Heroes made me believe that there is still some humanity in the Wii. Thank you
Grasshopper. I can't wait for the sequel.

Gears of War 2

At first I thought Gears of War 2 would be just another rehash that Microsoft would release to sell millions of units. I pictured a shitload of people waiting outside of Toys R Us in New York to buy the game at midnight, and Bill Gates standing at the register at Best Buy selling copies of this game but nope.

With that said, not much has changed this time around for Marcus Fenix and his squad, but it really doesn't matter. The graphics are great, the game is intense, and the characters are cool as hell (Shout out to the Cole Train.) The part inside of the worm was hot and the gun fights are amazing. The game doesn't stack up to other games when it comes to online play, but its still impressive. I would say that this game easily takes Forza 2's (or Fable 2, Mass Effect, or whatevers) spot as the reason to own an Xbox 360. Can't wait for the next one...

The Year of the Gamer

Obama 8 was a great year to be a gamer. American cars couldn't sell for shit but videogames sold like crack on the first of the month. I spent so much time sitting on my ass this past year. Definitely a year well spent. First game I'm going to mention is Saints Row 2.

Saints Row 2

I might sound like a casual gamer for this choice but fuck that. Saints Row 2 proved itself to be its own videogame this time around, and not just the best Grand Theft Auto clone on the market. Its true that Rockstar (R*) would have done a better job if they improved on the formula, but I remember wanting to play a Grand Theft Auto game before this year and going straight to the first Saints Row to scratch that itch. With Grand Theft Auto IV taking a more mature theme (cocaine and social relationships.) Saints Row 2 dared to improve on the formula from the older Grand Theft Auto games. Make a call and a car thats in your garage is delivered right to you. No auto aim. You can customize beyond belief. You create every feature of your character. It's not often that I get to play as a beautiful older man in a videogame (Snake and Sam Fisher dont count). The story wasn't bad, it took me about 20 hours to finish it. Your character has a personality and a lot of loose ends from the first one get tied up.

The top reason why this game ended up on my countdown was because this game got me off of that drug known as Grand Theft Auto IV. Saints Row 2 reminded me that I was playing a videogame and not living in a city. If it wasn't for this game I probably wouldn't have stopped playing GTA IV.. Well at least until Resident Evil 5 came out. GTA IV was heroin and Saints Row 2 was the methadone that got me off that shit. (I relapsed 5 days ago.. already played almost 20 hours)

Mixing The Old With The New

If you've seen my first blog, The Only Errol James (which nobody has,) you would know I had a countdown going of my top 5 games of 2008. It's bullshit. I dont like to call favorites, so I'll do a list of games I recommend you play if you havent...

Practice Practice Practice...

I gotta oraganize some of the madness know as my mind....

Hi world. My name is Errol James. This is my second blog and I'm going to dedicate it to video games. I've been a console gamer since I was two, and I believe that my heart beats for it. Enough of me talking shit like I'm the only person who ever has been addicted to video games. Time for some business.
